How do I apply for a job listed on the Opportunities page?
If you believe your experience may be a fit for a role listed on our Opportunities page, you may apply to it through our site. Simply click the “Apply” button for that vacancy, fill in the form, and attach your CV/resume before clicking “Send Application.”
Your application will be received and reviewed by the SML consultant who is handling that role. They will be in touch directly to arrange to chat with you about the role further if they believe your experience to be a match for that position.
Please note: Due to the number of applications we receive for each role, we are only able to respond to those applicants who are a match for the criteria provided by our clients.
Can I apply for more than one position?
Yes. You may apply for as many roles as you are interested in and for which you have the matching experience level.
How does the shortlisting process work after I’ve applied for a position?
After you have applied for a position on our website, your application is directed to the consultant working on that role. If they believe your experience is a good match for the vacancy and the client’s specifications, they will be in touch with you directly to arrange to chat further about your experience and the position.
At that time, they can answer any questions you may have about the role or client, and you may decide whether you would like to be put forward for the position after hearing more.
If the consultant believes you are a fit for the position, and you remain interested in the role, the consultant will put you forward to our client for their consideration. From there, the consultant will continue to be in touch with you to provide feedback as they receive it from the client, and to arrange interviews should the client wish for you to enter the interview process.
Is there an opportunity for feedback if my application is not successful?
While we wish we were able to speak with every candidate, as a small and specialised team, we are not able to provide individual feedback to candidates who submit an application that is unsuccessful via our website.
Should your application be put forward to a client and not taken forward with the process, the consultant working on that role will provide as much feedback as possible as and when they receive it from our client.
It should be noted that we cannot control the speed with which our clients are able to review applications and provide feedback on candidates. Please be assured that we strive to provide timely updates as we receive them.
Do you offer both full-time and part-time art jobs?
We rarely work on part-time or temporary placements as our clients usually engage us to help them fill full-time positions, however we do occasionally take on briefs of this nature.
How do you ensure the confidentiality of my application?
At SML, we understand and prioritise the need for discretion in the intimate and frequently interconnected art world.
If one of our consultants believes you may be a fit for a role they are working on, they will reach out to you directly to arrange a time to discuss the position in further detail, and you will have a chance to decide whether or not you would like to be put forward to our client for the role.
Your CV will never be sent to one of our clients without your consent.
As a candidate, how can I arrange a speculative meeting with an SML consultant?
Although we would love to be able to speak with every candidate who applies to a role or sends us their CV, we do not always have the resources to organise speculative meetings immediately.
We are always delighted to add new candidates to our database. Should you wish to register with us, please send your CV/resume to info@sophiemacpherson.com.
Can I apply for a role if I don’t have the correct visa for the location it’s based in?
If you do not possess the right to work in the country where the role is based, we will likely not be able to put you forward.
Should a client be willing to offer visa sponsorship, this will be highlighted in the role description.
What information should I send when registering through info@sophiemacpherson.com?
When registering with SML, please send an up-to-date CV along with any information you can provide about your specialisations, salary expectations, the timeframe in which you are looking to move roles, if you would be willing to relocate, in which countries you hold the right to work and the full details of any visa sponsorship you may require. Any additional information you believe to be pertinent to your job search would be helpful for us to know.
