Sophie started her career as an assistant to a Bond Street dealer in 2000. In 2002, after noticing the haphazard nature of traditional gallery recruitment she launched SML as a recruitment agency dedicated to serving the London art market. Since then, the business has expanded exponentially to include executive search and consultancy for a range of museums, auction houses, public institutions, collectors and dealers across four continents. Sophie now focuses on the most senior headhunting briefs and business development.
Rosanna joined SML in 2009 and runs the London HQ as well as overseeing all senior international searches. Rosanna works very closely with Sophie, collaborating on senior headhunting briefs, advising clients on strategy and development relating to executive search. She has a particular focus on the New York market and travels to the city regularly. Before joining SML, Rosanna worked for a photography gallery in Tehran, having studied Art History at Manchester University.
Rosie came to SML from Sotheby’s in 2013, having previously studied for her Masters in Art Business at Sotheby's Institute of Arts, London. With her interest in the art market, Rosie manages mid level and senior roles internationally focusing on sales, specialist and communication briefs. Having grown up in Singapore, Rosie has a real interest in the Asian art market and manages all briefs in Hong Kong, mainland China and Singapore. She studied Art History and Visual Studies at Manchester University where she specialised in the contemporary art market.
Rachel studied Fine Art at Camberwell College of Arts specialising in Photography before working directly for an artist, project managing his international exhibition schedule. She joined SML in 2014 and as a Consultant manages all junior to mid-level searches with a focus on London. Given her background as a practising artist, Rachel has a particular love of working with artists and their studios.
Christabel joined the SML team in 2016 and now manages our junior briefs. She studied History of Art and French at the University of Manchester. During her studies, she worked at Sulgrave Manor Museum as a Researcher, where she investigated the provenance and authorship of 17th century embroidery. Most recently, Christabel worked for the artist and illustrator, Alice Peto in London where she managed communications and customer service. Christabel also previously held a position assisting the artist Chris Levine.
Hattie came to SML having previously acted as a PA to a QC in Lincoln's Inn Fields. As an Art History graduate, she missed the art world so in 2016 made the move back, and now assists our Directors with all their projects. Having done a graduate course in Business and Administration, Hattie works particularly closely supporting Rosanna in her role as Managing Director.
