Museum Director, Art Centre, Southeast Asia
Our client, a new modern and contemporary art centre based in Southeast Asia, is seeking a Museum Director to lead the organisation through an ambitious period of institutional development and growth. Situated within a significant heritage site in the region’s historic core, the institution will focus on the art of Southeast Asia through exhibitions, commissions, public programming, and collection displays. Reporting to the Board and working closely alongside the Artistic Director, the Museum Director will oversee all operational, commercial, and strategic aspects of the organisation, including business operations, fundraising, partnerships, audience development, finance, and shared services across both museum and theatre functions. This role will suit an entrepreneurial and hands-on leader with strong commercial and organisational acumen, experience building teams and systems within evolving environments, and the ability to balance artistic ambition with long-term sustainability. The successful candidate will bring strong leadership capabilities, stakeholder management experience, and the confidence to act as a visible ambassador for the institution internationally, helping position the organisation as a significant platform for Southeast Asian contemporary art. Given the location of the role, candidates should be prepared to relocate to the relevant region and demonstrate the flexibility to do so.
