Artist Assistant, Artist studio, New York
Our client, an Artist Studio, is seeking an Artist Assistant to join their team in New York. The successful candidate will be highly organised, hands-on, and adaptable, supporting both the creative and operational needs of a dynamic working studio. Responsibilities will include assisting the artist with day-to-day studio needs; preparing and maintaining workspaces, painting tables, and materials; mixing paints and preparing materials to studio standards; assisting with stretching, framing, handling, and production of artworks; managing supplies and inventory; preparing artworks for exhibition, sale, or transport; liaising with the registrar on cataloguing, documentation, and shipping; maintaining an organised and professional studio environment; hosting studio visits; and supporting fabrication, installation, and production-related tasks.
The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Studio Arts, or a related field, with strong organisational and time-management skills, a high level of care when handling artworks, and confidence working in a physical production environment. They will be comfortable taking direction, working closely with the artist, adapting to changing priorities, and travelling across multiple locations as needed.
